I started using Adobe Photoshop to design my websites almost 9 years ago. At the time I was using the "pre-compiled" or "cookie cutter" design software - as I called it. It really didn't allow you to create your own graphics, or be creative at all . You had to use the pre-designed graphics that were provided, and mash-up a design.
For someone who was extremely creative, I felt as if my abilities were being handicapped by the software I was using at the time. At the time I was still a beginner and really had no idea where to even start. I searched around and found a few different free options . . . One of those was Gimp.
Gimp looked like great software, but I wanted something that was going to allow me to expand beyond what Gimp offered.
I eventually came across Adobe Photoshop sometime in 1998 when I was really into the Need For Speed PC games. I wanted to start my own website where I could have screenshots of the cars I had created, along with relevant content about the game. I was able to put together a workable design using Photoshop 5.5 (thanks to a Photoshop free download at Adobe) and ImageReady, along with my VERY basic HTML skills.
Over the next 9 years, I spent quite a bit of time using photoshop to create and complete all different types of graphical related design projects. Including; web designs, logos, landing pages, squeeze pages, user interfaces, marketing creatives, etc.. The list goes on.
